So I was emailed(Wait how’d the internets get my address?) a question last week. The question was:<summarized>I like your web site it seems kinda interesting. However what is up with the incoherent Mikes Links Monday feature? The links and pictures are all over the place and what is with animated gifs? Have you not heard of flash or the new silverlight? Please stop making the internets an ugly place. </summarized> I agree the Mikes Links Monday are a hodge podge of ideas that just fall out. Especially the pictures. The pictures are found all over the crazy cloud of...

Sad news today. George Carlin Died of Heart Failure. He brought us the 7 deadly words. Most of what the FCC use as their rules for over the air. Been fighting with Spyware for better over a week now. Have 4 workstations and 3 servers with a nasty little trojan. I had the name of it. However I have lost my notes on it. Publish it later. Sorry. So the final nail in the coffin for Yahoo. Multiple Chairmen and presidents are running not walking away. Looks like the shareholders will file class action lawsuit....

So here is my deep thought for the week: Why do public garbage cans have a door (with a very tightly wound spring holding them closed) on them? This plaques me only because I am done with lunch and I am going to use my tray to wedge the wrappers I have left on it into the this garbage can and hopefully dump the contents into the garbage can before the wrappers or used sauce packets come flying at me like a recently hit baseball out of Yankee stadium. On a completely different subject. Yahoo looks to be...

As you all know or now know I am a System Administrator at night. So I had to go through some serious tests to get these. Really! The Certifications are also known as “poke in the eye” or “put out the lights” on the Server,Workstation,Desktop or even Laptop.  To get these Certifications you need to learn simple things like windows key –> U – S for shutdown or –R for Restart. This works on all Microsoft OS’s except for Vista and Server 2008. I am awaiting the special training on those.   ...

People constantly ask: Will you build me a site as a favor? The answer is no unless your my wife or my mom. Some business’s think that a web developer or designer are gifted and it is just easy to put something on the web. To them I say if you want free go create a site on blogger or on myspace.com. Still the question remains: How much should a site cost? Remember a developer can develop and a designer well designs and you will want it (the site) maintained. These costs are not usually included unless...

I know what your thinking. Oh crap here he goes again with recommending tools and or services. My question is have I ever steered you wrong? Yes I normally deal in freeware tools. Mostly due to me being cheap and thinking my skills should push me past that latest issue with code. So why recommend a commercial tool? Good question. A friend recommended to me this tool. I had used tools like .net reflector to look into DLL’s to understand the application I am adding. I had heard rumor of NDepend however with all the different “N” products out there...

Being an avid Amazon purchaser? S3 Web Service application Constantly buying books. Mp3’s when they have them. Albums. ETC. So when Amazon.com goes down life is interesting since I have all my backups being sent to the S3 service. My mp3 licenses are there too. Oh no. Amazon went down around 11am Mountain time. Did not come back online until 1:00pm Mountain Time. No explanation or oops our entire enterprise went dark sorry. Now about 11am today June 9 2008 the same behavior. Do I trust amazon to...

Yes your seeing it. I missed a week. I know. Bad mike! Well here is my excuse if you want to know. I returned from So. Cal last Sunday night without any links due to all my wonderful hotels in So. Cal had 0 Internet access or at least had extremely dirty networks (please remove mind from gutter). I also had to work both jobs starting Sunday night late night. So there. Here is my rant from my trip: Please for the love of your money. Do not stay at the MGM/Mirage owned hotel casino (resorts). Very...
